Saffron only grows in certain areas of the world and it needs a specific climate and soil to grow into the highest ISO grade possible. Saffron is usually able to grow in temperate latitudes, but not tropical.
There are primarily three places that saffron grows in abundance, Iran, Kashmir and Spain. Iran accounts for the majority of saffron production in the world, followed by Kashmir and Spain.
Despite the fact that most saffron is grown in three regions in the world, there are other places that saffron grows. Some of these places include China, India, Afghanistan, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Morocco, France, England and even places like Pennsylvania, California and New Zealand.
