Kashmir, situated east of China, in northern India and Pakistan, is one of the few places in the world perfectly suited to grow the saffron crocus or flower. The region is extremely dry for most of the year, but also experiences periods of heavy rainfall, sometimes up to as much as 2100mm. These weather conditions allow for an unmatched and exotic saffron flower to bloom, with stigmas that can reach up to 15cm (5.9 inches) in length.
